BERNARD AND KITTY’S REAL FRUIT FLAVOURED VODKAS.

Bernard and Kitty’s was set up by Angus McCaig, Kate McCaig and Joe McCaig.

The idea of the fruit flavoured Vodkas was relatively simple. The other fruit based or flavoured Vodkas on the market seemed to lack any kind of freshness or actual fruit flavour. We have all tried the electric blue drinks that don’t really taste of anything identifiable, or at least anything naturally identifiable! So this is where we started to build the idea. We began by working out the best fruit flavours to support a U.K. produced grain spirit vodka without losing the character of that fruity flavour.

Next we established what application the fruit must take to create a  mouth watering flavour, without an eye watering result (some of these fruit flavour bases are incredibly sour). The results of our experiments were very popular with the customers in our Pub. Bernard and Kitty’s Vodkas mix well with other drinks to create delicious long drinks.

THE FLAVOURS.

Caramel Vodka: This is where it all began, for us. Combining the toasty burned sugar flavours of caramel with Vodka is almost natural selection at work, this drink balances two incredibly strong compounds to create a mellow and warming shooter. Using nothing but the raw ingredients Angus makes this drink from scratch in his kitchens in Devon.

Cherry Vodka: Our most popular and playful vodka, creating new and exciting flavours while at the same time reminiscent of the sloe gins and those wonderfully strong and fruitsome drinks that pass down from generation to generation. Again made from scratch in our kitchens, the vodka is carefully blended with a secret recipe of pure and natural cherry reduction, essences, and nature identical colours.

Apple Vodka: Green, crunchy, cold, apples mixed with vodka. Need I say more! In reality this vodka is made using a natural fruit reduction, blending the  sharp fruity flavours of apples with the vodka seemed a sensible decision, soon confirmed by our taste buds.

THE TRAFFIC LIGHT.

With the three Vodkas made, tried, tested, tweaked, and tested again, we noticed that they have the same colours as a traffic light, and so a famous three shooter Cocktail was born. This remains to this day a very popular part of our cocktails menu. Along side the long drinks of Cherry Vodka and Coke, Apple Vodka and Ginger Ale and many more it seems that there is more to Bernard and Kitty’s Vodkas than their disposable counterparts.
